You live in Wrocław and wonder how you can start driving here? You're in the right place!

Whether you've been living in the beautiful city of Wroclaw for few monhts or already few years, a driving license is something you might need here at some poin in your life :) Be it for professional or personal use.
The procedure for obtaining a driving licence in Poland is essentially the same for foreigners as it is for Polish citizens.

If you are a foreigner in Poland and want to get a Polish driving licence, you must meet two basic requirements related to:
• your legal stay
• your documents

But don’t worry — it’s not as complicated as it seems :)
This short guide will help you complete all the formalities quickly.

Who can start a driving course?

To begin a driving course in Poland, you must meet one of the following conditions:

Residence for work or personal reasons:
You must stay in Poland for at least 185 days in each calendar year due to personal or professional commitments.

Student status:
If you study in Poland, you must provide a certificate confirming that you have been attending your studies for at least 6 months.

When can you start the course?

You can sign up for a course 3 months before reaching the required age for the chosen driving licence category.
For category B, you may enroll at the age of 17 years and 9 months.

What documents are required to start a driving course?

To sign up for a course, you actually need only ONE DOCUMENT
the Driver Candidate Profile (PKK).

However, to obtain the PKK, you may need:

• An ID card or passport
• A residence card, visa, or another document confirming that you stay in Poland for at least 185 days
• Parental consent if you are under 18

If you do not yet have a registered address in Wrocław, you can arrange it on the spot at the same office, even during the same visit :)

What is the PKK and how do you obtain it?

The Driver Candidate Profile (PKK) is an electronic document containing a unique number and personal data of a person applying for a driving licence.
It is required to start the driving course and to take the state exams.

To obtain the PKK, follow these steps:

1. Prepare the necessary documents

Below is a list of documents that you may need to obtain your PKK:

• ID card or passport
• Residence card or visa (confirming at least 185 days of stay in Poland), for non-EU citizens
• Certificate of registration of residence for EU citizens. If you are an EU citizen staying in Poland for more than 3 months, you must register at the Voivodeship Office. In Wrocław, this is the office at Plac Powstańców Warszawy.
• One passport-size photo, not older than 6 months
• Medical certificate confirming that you are fit to drive
• Written parental/legal guardian consent if you are under 18

2. Visit the Department of Transportation

• After collecting all the required documents, go to the appropriate City Office or County Office.
Residents of Wrocław can obtain the PKK in two locations:
– Department of Transportation, Wrocław City Hall, Gabrieli Zapolskiej 4
– Customer Service Center, Wrocław City Hall, Magnolia Park (1st floor)

Residents of Wrocław County can apply at the County Office, T. Kościuszki 131.

Fill in the application form "Wniosek o wydanie PKK" and have it ready when you go to the City Hall. We're olways happy to help with that!

Once you receive your PKK, you can officially enroll in a driving course and begin your journey towards obtaining a Polish driving licence.
